Water Labs (Notes)

Drinking Water Lab:

Testing for

~Results will be present in 48 hours

Procedures:

. Place 2 drops of water sample onto strip
. Put 5 ml of water into each tube with powder
. Shake the tubes
. Place tubes in an incubator set to 80 degrees Fahrenheit or 25 degrees Celsius
.

Facts:

2% of water on Earth is drinkable
Tap water is filtered out of lakes, ponds, reservoirs, oceans (not as common), etc.

Chlorine:
. Is harmful to the environment
. A pale green gas
. Reacts with other chemicals

Pond Water Lab:

Macroscopic: Something that isnt microscopic; it is large enough to with the human eye
Microcopic: Something that isnt macroscopic; something that cant be seen by the human eye

Pond water contains a number of different macroscopic and microscopic

Ponds are stangnant

Stagnant bodies of water don't move

Bacteria breaks down

184 bacteria species in a pond
